Since Monday was a holiday (happy 150th birthday, Gat Jose Rizal! You've raised the standard of scholarship to such astronomical heights, it makes me want to hate you, but I am left in awe instead), Tita Vi (my discipler) decided to use the opportunity to have a whole day team building to instill in us the importance of leadership and discipleship. Yeah!
So after Lifextreme (our church's youth service in the afternoon), we headed to ate Karen's house (she drove) to hang out before heading to PBS where we will be spending the night. Jeni and Alyss rode with us. We hung out, ate her food, ordered take out from mcdo, watched films (Up and Bride Wars), took a nap. Pat and her "body guard" Penz showed up so we can go to PBS together.
So we were in Karen's car, heading back to Espanya, driving quite slowly, when a tricycle running perpendicular us hit us. I was right by the window, behind the driver's seat. The tricycle didn't have headlights, it was raining, and the road was kinda dark. I was totally surprised when we hit him. The driver actually fell out of motorcycle seat.

The tricycle didn't have headlights, it was raining, and the road was kinda dark. I was totally surprised when we hit him. The driver actually fell out of motorcycle seat.
In this accident, though it may seem like a bad experience, we saw how God protected us:
* Penz was with us, though he could've easily commuted by himself. He immediately stepped in to talk with the driver (along with Pat) to try to settle the situation.
* the driver was not dead-ass drunk or rabid. He seemed amiable and reasonable to talk to. He accepted our offer to bring him to the hospital.
* the driver was not hurt that bad. He immediately got up. He got a wound near his eyebrows that would need stitching. Thank God he wasn't gravely hurt, and neither were we.
So while Pat, Karen and Penz talked with the driver, Jeni called Kuya Hobbes on the phone, while I stayed in the car with Alyss. We followed the trike (Penz rode with them, the hurt driver driving, insisting that he cannot leave his tricycle) to UDMC, and went to the emergency room. Drama was going on inside--one was screaming, getting held back by at least two people, an old man was in a wheel chair, a guy was there with a bloody shirt, and the smell of alcohol was in the air. They needed to wait until the guy was treated since they needed to pay for the medical bills. So we opted to go back to the car and wait.
While we waited, we prayed. Talked a bit until Karen told us to go on head in a cab, since they would be taking a long time. So we went ahead, told Tita Vi the situation, and I fell asleep.
to be continued...
